The Shell Hearth Basket
$125
PL-000095 · India, late 20th centuryAn oval brass fireside basket inspired by traditional English hearth forms, with a tall swing handle, restrained horizontal reeding and applied shell medallions. Time has softened the brass into layers of tobacco, bronze and muted gold. Equally compelling beside a hearth, filled with kindling, or holding collected objects.
Condition
Very good vintage condition with age-appropriate surface variation and patina. Please see all photographs for detail.
A note about vintage
Patina & Light objects have lived before. Small marks, softened edges, surface variation, patina and signs of handling are part of that history. We photograph and describe condition carefully, but we do not expect an old object to look new — nor would we want it to.
Please review all photographs and condition notes before purchasing. Questions, additional photographs and measurements are always welcome.
We believe age should be understood, not erased.
