The House

Journal

Notes on the things worth noticing.

The Keeper’s Journal is where Patina & Light slows down.

Here, an object is allowed to be more than its price, maker or date.

We write about the things that make us look twice: the underside of an old bowl, a maker’s mark nearly worn away, the warmth of aged brass, a hand-blown ripple in glass, a repair that tells us someone cared enough not to throw something away.

Sometimes the subject is an important design piece.

Sometimes it is a strange ashtray.

Sometimes it is a garden frog that tells time badly.

And sometimes it may be nothing for sale at all, a shadow across a floor, a fallen leaf, a stone worn smooth, or the way late afternoon light changes an ordinary room.

The Journal is part record, part observation and part invitation.

A place to learn a little more about what something is, certainly, but more importantly, a place to consider why it might be worth keeping.

We do not believe beauty belongs only to rare things.

We believe attention changes what we see.

Come back often. The house is always changing.
